11/20/2009 Kubla has passed on.
He was doing great yesterday, he actually exhibited some feeling in the hind legs, and this morning before 8:00 a.m. he had eaten although not as much as normally. When a vet tech went to check on him at 9:00 he was not moving much and his pupil was dilated. Kubla/Magellan had suffered a severe stroke between the hours of 8:00 â?? 9:00 a.m. I was contacted about 10:00 as they wanted to monitor him a bit longer and was advised that his time had come and that he was in a great deal of pain. They had heavily sedated Kubla and when I arrived at the vet office I was able to hold him while he was peacefully let go. Kubla was a very loved member of our family, we had always hoped we would find a perfect home for him, however that was not in the plan. I will have him cremated and brought home.
In his honor I am starting a Kubla Foundation. I will help one geriatric Pit Bull at a time. I will focus on those that no one wants, that are beat up and have had crappy lives and bring him/her here to live out what ever time is left for them. I feel that Kubla would like that, as he was a dog that no one wanted, no rescue would take him, and his time was up when I rescued him from Spalding in GA. This is the kind of dog that will come here next, one much like Kubla. He/she will not be a replacement as there will never be a dog to replace him nor do we expect one. However I know there will be a dog that comes around that will be in the same age group and situation as Kubla was and we will welcome him/her with open arms. A website will be created for the Kubla Foundation and once it is completed I will post to you with the hope that you will consider donating to it so we can help another dog with a similar circumstance as Kublaâ??s.
For those of you that donated, a heartfelt thank you, I am not sure what the final invoice for his vetting is or the fee for the cremation will be, and if you would still like to donate for Kublaâ??s care and cremation, we will be grateful. And if by some chance there is anything left, it will go towards the next special needs senior in need we bring here; those funds will not be used for any other dog.
Thank you for your kind consideration.

REST IN PEACE SWEET KUBLA, MAY YOU RUN THROUGH FIELDS OF TALL GRASS, FREE OF PAIN AND A HEART FULL OF JOY.
